Photosensitive paper and printmaking processes

Process photo: photosensitive plant paper pulp

I have made a collection photosensitive plant-based images that embody physical plant material, using either anthotype printmaking or the photosensitive nature of chlorophyll within plant paper to create an image. These works have a temporary physicality - to exist for a short period of time in exhibition space, before fading, and eventually being returned to the whenua, beneath their mother plants. The cycle I have created is inspired by the natural way that plant leaves fall to the ground - returning to the soil, either from age, weather, or deciduous nature. I have used personally significant plant species, creating anthotype images depicting the same leaf that was used to make the paper or emulsion. These works are both images and objects.
